Valle Gran Rey

Lively Holiday Town Valle Gran Rey

La Playa

The district of La Puntilla was developed on the coastal stretch between the harbour district and the Playa des Valle Gran Rey. The attractive apartment complexes, restaurants and shops are clustered around the small lagoon Charco del Conde. mehr
La Calera
The old district of La Calera, with its whitewashed houses and roof terraces with amazing views, sits picturesquely on a mountain slope. Paved lanes and steep staircases keep traffic at bay and thusly preserve the idyllic centre of town. mehr
Vueltas
Vueltas, the protected port of Valle Gran Rey, where bright fishing boats and sailing yachts bob in the water, lies at the foot of steep cliff faces. Rustic bars, restaurants and colourful shops and apartments bring life to the old district of Vueltas. mehr
The Upper Valley
The locals tend to have the upper area of the valley of Valle Gran Rey to themselves. Steep cliffs border the traditional district, with it’s colourful gardens, luscious palm groves and productive spring. mehr
The Beaches of Valle Gran Rey
The beautiful valley in the west has some of the most beautiful beaches of the island, such as the wonderfully situated Playa de Igles and the long Playa de Valle Gran Rey. Children can play safely at the protected Charco del Conde. mehr
The Legend of the Great King Hupalupa
They valley gets it’s name from the legendary king Hupalupa. In the pre-Spanish era, the fertile valley was the home of the ancient Canarian king.
Tales tell of his beautiful daughter, who, together with her father, could stop bad things happening to her people, thanks to her psychic abilities.
It is also told however, that the king’s son tried to sabotage his father’s plan to kill the Spanish tyrant Peraza.
Because of this Hupalupa stabbed his own son in front of his people.
