Travelling to La Gomera
La Gomera cannot be reached directly by air from the European mainland. For most holiday-makers the journey therefore begins with a flight to the neighbouring island of Tenerife. Ferries to La Gomera leave from the south of the island.
The journey to La Gomera generally consists of:
- A flight to Tenerife-South, to the airport Reina Sofia (TFS)
- Ferry journey to La Gomera
- Transfer on the island to your destination or accommodation.
If on the other hand, you should land at Los Rodeos Airport (TFN) in Tenerife-North, you have the option of catching a connecting flight to La Gomera.
If time is no issue, then you may want to consider driving to the south of Spain and enjoying a multi-day sail to the island.
To Tenerife
Flying to Tenerife
Many renound airlines fly daily to Tenerife. The flight takes just over four hours. With a bit of luck, you can find a relatively cheap charter flight, preferably to the Aueropuerto Reina Sofia (TFS) in the south of the island. mehr
Trasmediterranea
For holiday-makers with a lot of time on their hands, there is the alternative of travelling by car via the south of Spain. A car-ferry of the Transmediterranea shipping company leaves from the harbour city Cadiz to Santa Cruz in the north of Tenerife. mehr

The catamaran Garajonay Expres which operated between Los Cristianos, San Sebastian de la Gomera, Playa Santiago and Valle Gran Rey has ceased operating. mehr
Fred Olsen
The shipping company Fred Olsen combines with its large car ferries Benchijigua Express and Bonanza Express Tenerife and San Sebastian de la Gomera for years. Since March 2009 the small fast ferry Benchi Express also goes to Playa Santiago and Valle Gran Rey on La Gomera. mehr

Naviera Armas, a Canarian company, offers a good value service in their new and very comfortable traditional car ferry, the Volcan de Tenagua. mehr

Getting to your accommodation by bus
Anyone arriving by ferry in La Gomera's capital San Sebastian from Tenerife, will be happy to find a public bus waiting at the harbour to take you to your holiday resort. mehr
Getting to your accommodation by taxi
You will find taxis directly at the jetty in La Gomera's harbour towns. For a few Euros, they will take you directly to your apartment from the ferry harbours Playa Santiago and Valle Gran Rey. mehr
Getting to your accommodation by rental car
Various car rental companies can be found in the ferry terminal in San Sebastian, as well as in Valle Gran Rey. It pays to have pre-booked however, because only a limited number of cars are available and the price is much higher on the island. mehr
